CID Bio-Science Digital Plant Canopy Imager
Model CI-110
Description
CID Bio-Science Digital Plant Canopy Imager, Model CI-110
Fast, accurate, non-destructive canopy analysis anytime and anywhere! Using a self-leveling digital camera, this powerful instrument captures 150° field-of-view images of plant canopies for hemispherical photograph analysis. The imager instantly estimates Leaf Area Index (LAI) and measures Photosynthetically Active Radiation (PAR) levels. The 24 PAR sensors in the arm of the instrument calculate sunflecks, and measurements can be obtained under any sky condition. Location is acquired via GPS, Glonass, Beidou, and Galileo with an amplified antenna, and an internal compass standardizes measurements across locations. In addition to an ergonomic design, the imager boasts a 7˝ capacitive touchscreen, a trigger with delayed image release for crisp images, and the option to add or exchange filters over the camera lens. Images and data are visible in the field and are also saved for further analysis. The imager offers calculated LAI of plant canopies across multiple size classes, adjustable camera lens focus for varying canopy heights, and calculation of canopy gap fraction distribution, leaf angle distribution, and plant canopy extinction coefficients. No above-canopy reference readings are required for gap fraction LAI. Additional features include full, user-selectable range of zenith and azimuth angles (digitally applied) as well as user-selectable and literature-based thresholding methods including the Otsu Method and Entropy Crossover Technique.
