I had no idea that an extended handle version of the very useful and well-engineered Swedish Bahco tongs existed until stumbling over them in the FS catalog. Extremely happy with them. Even less bending over and it's also useful to be able to skid smaller logs manually.

This is one great tool. My first use of this tool was to move 2 3\4" x 9" x 12' green oak boards weighing about 100 lbs each. It made the task much easier and saved a lot of wear and tear on my back. I highly recomend this tool.

Terrific. Significantly better than Fiskars' log tongs, which have difficulty biting into the wood. I think the difference is twofold: 1. Bahco's hinges are better, which allows the tongs to close around the wood using only the force of gravity. Fiskars tongs sometimes need a nudge from my index finger--or from my other hand--to close around the wood. That slows down the work and means more time bent over. 2. The tongs' points are sharper on the Bahco tool. I've dropped a few pieces on my leg when they slipped out of the Fiskars tongs. That's frustrating, and it's harder to zone out when you have to question whether the tongs are sufficiently biting each time. Final note: I bought the 11" and 8" versions, and the 11" version is larger than the numerical difference might suggest. In other words, the 11" version picks up logs larger than eleven eighths the diameter of the logs picked up by the 8" version.
